Description:

  • rights: Freely available
  • summary: Five year Estuarine-Carbon-Biogeochemistry (ECB) model simulation (2001-2005) for the Chesapeake Bay, as published in: Feng, Y., M.A.M. Friedrichs, J. Wilkin, H. Tian, Q. Yang, E.E. Hofmann, J.D. Wiggert and R.R. Hood. Chesapeake Bay nitrogen fluxes derived from a land-estuarine-ocean biogeochemical modeling system: Model description, evaluation and nitrogen budgets. Journal of Geophysical Research: Biogeosciences. As described in this publication, a 24-year spin-up was performed, but those results are not included here. At the open boundary, the Chapman condition is used for the free surface, the radiation condition is used for tracers and baroclinic 3D velocities and the Flather condition is used for barotropic 2D velocities. Temperature and salinity are nudged in and out of the model domain to climatological data fields generated from the 2001 World Ocean Atlas. Although both nitrogen and carbon variables are reported here, the carbon variables have not yet been evaluated.
