  • summary: Output from Ruoying He's ROMS model of the Mid-Atlantic Bight and Gulf of Maine; 2003-2007 data here is prototype outer domain for ESPRESSO (Experimental System for Predicting Shelf and Slope Optics) and SW06 (Shallow Water Acoustics 2006) high resolution modeling projects. VERSION 6: (((((((( THIS SECTION NEEDS UPDATING )))))))) Surface forcing uses NCEP NARR (North American Regional Reanalysis) marine boundary layer atmospheric conditions and net shortwave radiation, with air-sea fluxes parameterized by Bulk Formulae. Adjustments are made to open boundary data from HYCOM to reduce temperature and salinity biases - the adjustments replace the temporla mean of HYCOM with the Hydrobase climatology (see the corrections applied at http://omgrhe.meas.ncsu.edu/OMG/MABGOM/TS_bias/movie.html). Open boundary depth integrated transport and sea level are modified to be consistent wiht geostrophy and the Hydrobase adjusted temperature and salinity. Adjustments are made to surface temperature by relaxing to OI SST data (ROMS QCORRECTION scheme) to correct a drift in model SST that could be associated with vertical turbulence closure, the NARR data that enter the air-sea flux calculation, or something else.
