- summary: Prototype simulation of the South China Sea with IS4DVAR assimiilation of along-track Jason-2 sea level anomaly and daily satellite SST. Boundary/initial conditions from global HYCOM. Surface met forcing via BULK_FLUX option with marine boundary layer conditions from NCEP GFS 3-hourly. Precip is climatology of ECMWF ERA-Interim. Climatological seasonal river inflows for 4 major rivers (W. Zhang). 9 boundary tide harmonics from OTPS. Resolution is ~7 km and 40 levels. Bottom friction is quadratic drag.
